Congressman Jim Baird’s Veterans History Project Volunteer Training Workshop on Tuesday, June 25
Congressman Jim Baird’s (R-IN-04) office is offering a training session for volunteers wishing to assist in collecting the oral history of veterans for the Veterans History Project (VHP). The mission of the VHP is to protect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of wartime veterans so future generations may hear directly from them and better understand their selfless service.
Veterans, friends and family members of veterans, and any interested member of the community 16 years of age or older are encouraged to participate. The training session will provide participants with the skills to properly engage and interview veterans, making them feel most comfortable sharing their stories. Attendees will learn how to prepare for the interview, what equipment to use, where to set the interview, how to ask questions in a respectful manner, and how to properly submit materials to the Library of Congress. Attire is casual and light refreshments will be provided.
